Potgieter Wedding

OUR STORY

What started as high school sweethearts turned into forever.

I had a crush on Xander from the moment I saw him. There was just something special about him that I couldn’t explain. Ever since he asked for my number, and texted me , there wasn’t a single day that we didn’t talk. And I fell head over heals in love with him.

Shortly after we started spending time together, I left for the farm for a month over the December holidays. Looking back, that was one of the most special times of my life. We spent hours talking, and getting to know each other over video calls it never felt like effort to talk to him—it came so naturally. We just clicked, and from that moment, I knew I couldn’t picture my life without Xander.

It’s actually a funny story. The first time I ever noticed Chané at school, she walked past with a group of her friends, and I remember hearing her unmistakably loud laugh. Anyone who knows her knows that’s just part of who she is. I turned to my friends and confidently said, “I would never date a girl like that.” But Clearly, God had other plans.

As time went on, our paths crossed every now and then, and little by little I got to know more about her. Eventually, my friends convinced me to get her number, so I got it from one of her friends and sent her a message . From that very first conversation, we just clicked.

Looking back, I’m so grateful for God’s perfect timing. The greatest joy has been watching how God has transformed Chané’s life. Seeing her heart for His Kingdom and her desire to glorify Him in everything she does has been the most beautiful part of who she is, and it’s something that continues to draw me to her every day.

We have grown together through every season of life—from him helping me with Maths and Physics in high school, to celebrating our matric farewell, praying together throughout university, and watching each other graduate.

These years together have been so full of love, growth, and unforgettable memories and adventures, and we cannot wait to spend the rest of our lives together.

As Ecclesiastes 4:12 reminds us, “A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”
With God at the center of our marriage, we know this covenant will be blessed, strengthened, and anointed for all the years to come.
